Life in the Skates Home

Whew!
Man it has been a fast and furious few months for the Skates home. Easton has gotten so big. It's so hard for me to believe that he will be 2 on Halloween. He is such a big boy and is so smart. He knows exactly what he wants and knows if he is suppose to have it or not. He knows the names of everyone in the family without us asking who they are. He can point to a picture and tell us who they are. Easton also can count to 5 clearly. We are still working on the numbers on his fingers though. He sits at the dinner table like a big boy in his booster seat. He gets his own fork or spoon out of the drawer and goes to sit down at the table. Easton also has a very specific routine in the mornings that we have to stick to or he is cranky. He has to watch his shows (Mickey, Einsteins, Chuggington, Jake or Doc McStuffins) and eats his breakfast. While he is doing his thing, we get ready for work and get the car packed. We then get Easton dressed and ready to go to school. When we drive up to school he looks and says "Rina" (Corina his teacher) and gets so excited. We have finally passed the crying stage when I drop him off in the mornings. He has so many words now. Too many to write down in fact. Keith and I are so blessed to be able to call Easton ours. He has blessed our lives in so many ways that it's unbelievable. Here are some pics to catch you up.

18 months
It is hard to believe that 18 months ago I was in the hospital bringing this wonderful child into the world. Time has flown by so fast. This little man has truly become a little man. He looks like he is 3 and is the sweetest thing ever. He loves to cuddle and to give hugs and kisses. Easton has truly blessed mine and Keith's lives forever.
The things that he is doing now:
climbing on everything
running everywhere
loves fruit
despises veggies
playing basketball
throwing any kind of ball
dancing
watching elmo
barking at dogs
feeding pepper
helping us do whatever we are doing (cleaning, vacuuming, laundry, etc.)
Things that he is saying:
mommy
daddy
elmo
mickey
doggie
pepper
mawmaw
pawpaw
eva
teeth
lemonade
water
banana
bathy
cookie
cracker
outside
bite
no
Ryder (the biter at school)
hi
bye
go
car
Lola (our neighbors dog)
Papo (our neightbors cat)
Nanny
gracie
pops
I am sure that I have left some words off, but you get the idea. Easton really tries to have serious conversations with us. He looks at you with these serious eyes and expects you to understand every word. I can't imagine what our lives would be like without our precious boy. I am so excited to see what the future holds for all of us.

Wedding Weekend
This past weekend we went to Arlington for Keith's cousin's wedding. Easton had such a blast at the reception. This kid love to dance and really loves music. When that DJ started playing, Easton jumped out of my lap to go dance. Now I have no idea where some of his moves came from so don't even ask. Here are a few videos of little man dancing.

Little man is growing like crazy
I swear, it seems like our lives are a whirlwind. Keith and I have been so busy these past few months and our little man has been right there with us. He is a gym rat to the max. He is either with me at basketball practice or with Keith at basketball games. He loves being there with us because he gets to play with all of the basketballs.
So, we have been fighting ear infections with him every month for 6 months. We finally went to an ear, nose, and throat guy and he said that Easton needed tubes desperately. He got tubes at the beginning of February. From the time they took him back to the time they brought him back to us took 18 minutes. Since he has had these tubes, the child has not stopped talking (jabbering). He did this to some point before, but now it is non stop. I don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing.
Here are tons of pictures of Easton. I hope y'all enjoy.

Catching up
I know that it has been forever since I have updated my blog. We have had a crazy 2 months. With traveling every where for Christmas and Easton being sick, I don't think that Keith and I have had time to breathe. Easton had a wonderful Christmas. He got so many gifts. It is hard to believe how many toys a 1 year old can have. I swear that we have toys in every room of our house. He sure does love to play though. He watches a Baby Einstein that is a Christmas version. At the beginning of it, Santa comes across the screen in an airplane. He points to it and says "caca." I guess that is his word for Santa. His words for so many things are funny. I guess that you have to be around him to know what he is saying.
Like I said earlier, Easton has been sick for the longest time. It all started with another ear infection. He normally gets over these fairly quick. When he wasn't better in a few days, we took him back to the doctor. Come to find out, he had pneumonia. He started us on a new antibiotic for 10 days then we were suppose to come back after he finished the antibiotic for another check up to make sure the pneumonia was gone. We went back to the doctor on Tuesday and he said that Easton has fluid on his ears still. We had to make an appointment with the ENT to consult with him about tubes. Keith and I were expecting this to happen. He has had 5 ear infections in 6 months. I guess we will find out what's going on next Wednesday. Anyway, enough with the bad news. Here are some updated pictures of our little man. Enjoy!!

1 year old!!
We now have a 1 year old living with us. This is really hard for me to believe that Easton is already 1. So much has happened in this past year and it has gone by so fast. If you have children you know that every day is a blessing. They teach us new things about ourselves every day. Easton has taught us how much we can actually love someone. Not that Keith and I don't love each other, but it is a totally different love. As parents, you will do anything for your child. I can't imagine my life, as chaotic as it is, without Easton in it.
On Saturday we had a costume party for Easton. It was so much fun. Everybody was dressed up, even the great grandparents. We had a feast for everyone to eat. The house was decked out in spiders and pumpkins. When it was time to open gifts, Easton just wanted to paper. Once I got the gift out, depending on if it was a toy or clothes, he would want whatever I had in my hands.
Easton had his own little cake. At first he didn't know what to do with it. Once I put some icing in his mouth he started to dig in. He loved it. I had to take the cake away from him, because he was eating so much of it. I think that he ended up eating about 1/4 of his cake. After his cake, he went straight to he bathtub. He had so much icing on him.
We love you Easton Ryan!! We are looking forward to many more costume parties with you.

Toddler Stage!!!
Easton is now officially a toddler, even though he walks like a monkey. He walks everywhere with his arms straight up in the air like someone is holding his hands. It is the cutest and funniest thing I have seen in a while. He has been taking a few steps here and there, but this past weekend he finally decided that he would just walk. Here are a couple of videos of him walking. There are also a few pictures of him at the St. Andrew's football game.
He will be graduating in 2029 hints the 29 |
We finally finished decorating Easton's room. This is the Ranger/Josh Hamilton wall. |
